Coordinates compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulation, keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Involved in the design, development, coaching, training, and administration of environmental, health, and safety systems and programs.
Ensures that Company safety procedures are followed and that environmental and health safety standards are met by conducting and ensuring all personnel are trained. Performs duties in a safe manner; acts as a role model for all employees.
Assumes a leadership role to maintain a vibrant environmental, health and safety training program. Coordinates and leads the Leadership Safety Committee to establish and direct safety programs and activities.
Participates and leads employee improvement teams to emphasize safety, housekeeping, and waste/cost reduction; promotes programs and encourages employee participation.
Maintains accurate and complete Environmental, Health and Safety records in accordance with governing regulations and company policies.
Assists with the oversight of case management of Workers Compensation cases. Works closely with insurance providers and adjustors to ensure timely and safe return to work for injured employees.
Measures Plant performance, benchmarking against best in class manufacturing and leadership role to create plans to improve performance.
Encourages and maintains high employee involvement in safety and health systems.
Conducts EHS program training for all employees. Develops and conducts new training programs as needed. Participates in new hire orientation process by conducting appropriate training.
Leads incident investigations including “root cause analysis” for corrective action. Works with management personnel on incident investigations and proper documentation.
Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy, and procedures
Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
May be required to support other plants in the division; conduct training, participate in audits and inspections, and update safety policies/programs.
Maintains SDS program and ensures that all employees are trained in their use.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or Regional EH&S Manager
Knowledge normally acquired through completion of High School Diploma/GED/equivalent. Preferred Post-Secondary Diploma, Courses, or Certification in related fields of safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, or equivalent training/education. Extensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other government regulations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
